San Diego Comic-Con, that magical time when nerds the world over gather in darkened amphitheatres to watch and engage in showcases across the entertainment industry.

This massive convention holds the Guinness World Record for the “largest annual comic and pop culture festival in the world, attracting around 130,000 registered visitors over the four-day event.”

To celebrate this year’s Comic-Con we’ll be listing our favourite moments from the convention and the most exciting trailers that were released!

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

The new trailer for Fantastic Beasts promises a deeper look into the lore of the Harry Potter Universe. We follow a young Dumbledore (Jude Law) and Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as they attempt to prevent the rise of the dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp).

Memorable moments from the Fantastic Beasts Panel include Ezra Miller dressed in ‘sexy Toadette’ cosplay and Johnny Depp in character as Grindelwald casting a spell on the audience of Hall H with the Elder Wand.

Aquaman

Despite the DC cinematic universe’s rocky track record, its seems like Aquaman will be following in the footsteps of the extremely popular Wonder Woman. The perfectly cast Jason Momoa will be reprising his role as Arthur Curry, heir to the throne of the underwater kingdom Atlantis.

Doctor Who

For the first time in the history of Doctor Who we’ll be getting a female doctor! From Jodie Whittaker as the new Doctor, the diverse new cast, and the trailer’s cinematic tone, it looks like the new season of the show will be groundbreaking and fantastic.

Disenchantment

Source: Netflix

In this fairy tale with a twist, Princes get impaled on Iron Thrones and little demons try to rid humanity of the diseases that plague them in the hopes of replacing them with worse ones. The new Disenchantment trailer offers more ye olde shenanigans. The show is created by Matt Groening, maker of The Simpsons and Futurama. Nightflyers

This Sci-fi Thriller TV series is based on the 1980 Novella by GEORGE R. R. MARTIN. Expect just as much chaos, death, and mutilation as Martin’s other adapted to TV series Game of Thrones.

Glass

Source: Universal Pictures

The events following M. Night Shyamalan’s films Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016) have led to the maniacal characters of The Beast (James McAvoy) and Mr Glass (Samuel L. Jackson) — and the more sane David Dunn (Bruce Willis) — being imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital. Sarah Paulson’s Dr. Ellie Staple believes the characters delusionally think they have superpowers, the trailer suggests the truth may be more ambiguous.

Shazam!

Source: Warner Bros. Pictures

Shazam! seems to be the DC cinematic universe’s most recent foray into the comedy genre. Gone are the dark shadows and starless skies that characterise Gotham. Much like the Tom Hanks comedy Big (1988), Zachary Levi plays a foster kid who turns into an adult male (with superpowers) when he yells “shazam!”
