Maroon 5 have joined the prestigious list of artists who have performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, announcing that they will be headlining the show in 2019. The group announced the news on social media this morning, and fans are already speculating what songs the group will be performing.

Maroon 5 have been producing absolute bangers since 1994, including some of our favourite hits like ‘Harder to Breathe’ and ‘Sunday Morning’. Since those days, Maroon 5 have showed no signs of slowing down. More recently, they’ve collaborated with artists like Cardi B for ‘Girls Like You’, and Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Don’t Wanna Know’. Fans are hoping to see guest appearances from the artists they’ve collaborated with in what is bound to be an incredible performance.

The Super Bowl Halftime Show is reserved for the best of the best in the music industry. Maroon 5 will be joining music royalty like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Prince, and Bruno Mars – just to name a few. The 2018 Super Bowl saw Justin Timberlake grace the stage, performing hits like ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’ and ‘Cry Me a River’. It’s definitely safe to say the group have big shoes to fill for next year.

While fans might be stoked about the group performing, some disgruntled viewers took to Twitter to share the views on the group performing. Claims about boycotting the show circulated throughout social media, with people taking to Twitter to share their disappointment at the selection for the prestigious performance.

“Is there a ‘band’ more generic, caucasian, and corporate than Maroon 5?” one Twitter user said. “I seriously can’t think any other act who depresses me more.”

Well random Twitter user, as qualified as you are to share your opinions all over the internet, we couldn’t be more excited to see the group perform. As someone who feels the urge to cry into a massive tub of Ben and Jerry’s the second ‘She Will Be Loved’ is played, you’d better believe we’re going to have a tub of Chocolate Fudge Brownie ready to go for February next year.
