Instagram has recently unveiled a new feature that is no longer just available to those with a high traffic comment section. The app now allows all users to be able to block negative and offensive comments.

The idea was originally put forth in July and was test driven by celebrities. Kylie Jenner openly admitted to using the feature in August, claiming that she was fed up with other users self promoting themselves on her photos.

CEO of Instagram, Kevin Systrom released a statement proclaiming his commitment to users as well as the company’s drive to “keep building features that safeguard the community and maintain what makes Instagram a positive and creative place for everyone”.

The new feature allows users to create a blacklist of customised words or phrases that they consider offensive and no longer wish to see in their comments section. These comments are then automatically hidden from the user’s profile.

If users wish to use this tool, it can be found in the settings section of the app under the comments tab. Happy gramming!
