The show that got all of Australia talking is now biting back as it faces controversy with homosexual couple, Andy & Craig. Their wedding aired on Wednesday night, with some cheering for the couple and others being absolute homophobes (come on guys, it’s the 21st century).

Some of the complaints are about how the show makes the struggle for LGBTQI rights seem insignificant. Other complaints are about airing homosexual marriage on national TV.

“Thank you for reducing same sex marriage to a cheap gimmick for ratings,” said one person. “Years and years of fighting for this, and you’ve effectively cheapened the entire marriage equality movement.”

The couple knew what they were setting themselves up for, but they are not going to back out of the show just yet. They are really excited for what is to come for the both of them.

They began to speak up about the issue, with Craig saying “I didn’t do it for marriage equality, I didn’t do it to be on TV. I did it to meet the man of my dreams.”

Andy then added, “We were born equal, we need to be treated as such. We need marriage equality because it’s about equality. Being with the right person is much more important than a piece of paper for me.”
Andy & Craig were forced to marry in New Zealand because of it not being legal in Australia. They are now trying to persuade the government to legalise it here and bring in a vote for same-sex marriage to be legalised here for the LGBTQI community to have their equality within their own homes.
