Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have welcomed their first child, a beautiful baby girl named Daisy Dove Bloom.
The expected birth of Daisy was first announced through UNICEF’s social media account, rather than from either Katy’s or Orlando’s socials.
The couple commented through their joint UNICEF statement that they were “floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter”.
Whilst the arrival of Daisy Dove Bloom went smoothly without any reported complications, the couple used this exciting announcement to bring awareness to global child mortality rates and the increased risk the COVID-19 pandemic is having on healthcare systems.
“Since COVID-19, many more newborn lives are at risk because of a greater lack of access to water, soap, vaccines and medicines that prevent diseases. As parents to a newborn, this breaks our hearts, as we empathise with struggling parents now more than ever”, the couple commented in the statement.
The couple have since set up a charity donation page on behalf of their daughter, and all proceeds raised will go towards expecting mothers and their newborns who are experiencing hardship.
Katy Perry announced her pregnancy in March with the release of her music video for her song ‘Never Worn White’ which showed her baby bump.
Globally, fans have started to connect the dots between Katy Perry’s song ‘Daisies’ and her newborn daughter’s name.
The song, which was released on May 15th 2020, is now being speculated to have been Katy Perry’s hint to revealing Daisy’s name.
The couple have been together since 2016, before taking a 10 month break and reconnecting in 2018.
On Valentine’s day last year, they had announced their engagement to each other but had to postpone their wedding due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
