Traditionally after breaking off an important relationship, most us try to reinvent ourselves by changing our appearance. Even though Ariana Grande often seems out of this world, she joined our Heartbreak Club as she debuted a fresh new hairstyle Friday afternoon.
Her reinvention follows after her split from Saturday Night Live comedian Pete Davidson in October. They seemingly parted on good terms, as no harsh words were sent towards one another at the beginning. However, in recent weeks, some social media sparring has ensured between the two.
It is likely that the break-up was a consequence of the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller. His passing put a heavy strain on Ariana as she took a break from social media to clear her mind. It was seemingly not enough as they eventually called of their engagement.
She posted the new look on Instagram, of course with a cute bunny ear filter. She added a comment concerning her eyebrows, trying to divert our attention from the true meaning of the post: debuting her breakup haircut. Naturally, the makeover is gorgeous either way.
Known for her signature long ponytail, Ariana has traded in her long locks for a classy lob.
The haircut however, is not the singers first step towards healing. Days after calling off her engagement to Pete, she released her new song “thank u, next”. The song itself is an ode to learning to love herself after all the lovers she has lost and the lessons she has learned.
The song seemingly spoke to many as it debuted on top of the Billboard chart. As the song was only released as a single, many fans are still anticipating a fifth album. However, Grande’s new look could mean a transformation for a new album.
