Father’s Day is just around the corner and while we all to like think our dads are special, onscreen dads are too perfect. We’ve picked our top five on screen dads for an early Father’s day celebration.
1. Dill Penderghast – Easy A
Played by Stanley Tucci, AKA the theatrical chameleon, Dill is a dad we all low key wish we had. He’s funny (without the need for dad jokes), raises his children on sarcasm and reminds you of your best friend.
2. Daniel Hillard – Mrs. Doubtfire
Played by comedic legend Robin Williams , Daniel’s determination to spend time with his children at whatever the cost is admirable and gives us that warm, fuzzy feeling. Plus, you’ve gotta give props to a guy willing to put on prosthetic boobs to see his kids.
3. Marlin – Finding Nemo
Whether you know someone or you are the person with the overprotective father, Marlin is a dad who takes it a whole other level. Just like Nemo, we’d prefer to be left to fend for ourselves, but knowing that we’ll always have someone who’s got our back is pretty cool.
4. Phil Dunphy – Modern Family
Played by Ty Burrell, this TV dad is one who makes us cringe but for all the right reasons. If he’s not telling dad jokes or making puns that are worthy of an eye roll, he’s looking out for his family in his own, weird way.
5. Chris Gardner – The Pursuit of Happiness
The best dad of all is a dad that’s a fighter; one who inspires and leads by example. Played by Will Smith, Chris is a dad who makes drastic changes for the better and defies all odds for the sake of his son’s future.
