Fans of the popular wizard franchise Harry Potter gathered around the cauldron for their annual Back to Hogwarts event on the 1st of September. At the event that celebrates a new school year at Hogwarts, the avid fans were welcomed back by the Fantastic Beast cast, with the likes of Eddie Redmayne, Ezra Miller, and Zoe Kravitz gracing the message.

Apart from the warm welcome, fans were granted a featurette to the behind-the-scenes of the new instalment of Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald.
Here, we are accompanied by J.K. Rowling and the actors involved, who all suggest that the second movie will be a walk down memory lane. Warning! The risk of getting sentimental during the movie is quite big.
Back in July we were already invited back into the wizarding world at Comic Con, where the latest trailer was released.
In the trailer we are teased with a throwback to the past where a young Dumbledore is seen teaching a young Newt. Even during a present day scene, it seems that Dumbledore is mentoring Newt once again as he mentions that he can’t fight Grindelwald(Johnny Depp) himself (this storyline sounding familiar?).
It seems necessary however, as it sounds as if Grindelwald is gathering forces to not only conquer the wizarding world, but rule over all non-magical beings.
With Newt holding a postcard of Paris, scenes of french streets and architecture, and the Eiffel tower making an appearance, it might not seem as a farfetched idea that the movie will now be taking place in Paris, France.
The fans who were gathered in King’s Cross to start off a new Hogwarts school year were not only rewarded with a sneak-peak, but also with the presence of Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne, who portray Dumbledore and Newt Scamander respectively.During the event they even gave a short interview on the happening itself, but also on the upcoming movie and their experience during the filming.
One of the focus points is the representation of Dumbledore in this movie, which had sparked some controversy in the beginning of this year. It seems that while back in 2007 J.K. Rowling had revealed that Dumbledore was gay, she had no plans of explicitly portraying him as such in this movie. In a period where such representation is very important this might come as a bold move.
During this event however, Jude Law commented that, “There’s a long journey for this man to go on before he becomes the Dumbledore we all know and love.” Law mentions that Dumbledore is an intricate character that should not be immediately unraveled. This might indicate that more will be revealed about Dumbledore’s life in the other upcoming movies of Fantastic Beasts.
This theory seems likely as the scene where Dumbledore is standing in front of the Mirror of Erised, the image of Grindelwald makes an appearance. Remember? The one that shows your deepest wants and desires?
So, get on your brooms and fly over to the cinemas on the 16th of November, as the second magical movie will be released then.
