Actress Michelle Williams has opened up about her emotional struggle with her ex Heath Ledger’s death and the difficulty of raising their daughter Matilda (who is the spitting image of Heath).
In her new film Manchester by the Sea, Michelle plays a heartbroken mother trying to start a new life, a role that would resonate with Michelle’s own experiences. She explains in an interview with Porter that Heath’s premature death has affected her life astronomically.
Michelle explained that the absence of daughter Matilda’s father in her life made her realise that you can’t always accept things as they come.
“You know, that’s just something that doesn’t… I mean, it just won’t ever be right.”
It’s definitely not right that such a talented (and super hot) actor should be absent from our lives, but Michelle has been keeping his memory alive in his daughter’s heart. Michelle has been focusing her energy on making Matilda content and she’s succeeding.
“Not only are we OK, she’s happy. Life has brought us to a place that’s not just surviving, but thriving.”
She opened up about the difficulties of dating again, joking that her friends told her that she’d have to wait for couples to start getting divorced to find a good man.
“God, what would I say about [dating]? I feel really sensitive about it and certainly did not expect to still be dating at 36 with an 11-year-old.”
Luckily, Michelle is still absolutely gorgeous and has been linked to a number of stars, including Jason Segal and Dustin Yellin. For the moment, she says she’s just enjoying her life as it comes.
