One Direction Fans might be mourning an early death of the hottest boy band in the UK, after Liam Payne announced he signed to Capitol UK.
Happy to have signed to @CapitolUK. They have an amazing history of artists, I hope I can follow in their footsteps pic.twitter.com/tVlDsXVVW3

The group did say they’d be on hiatus for this year, as they all pursue different opportunities. Zayn Malik was the first to leave the boyband and his single Pillowtalk skyrocketed to No.1 on Hot 100. Likewise, Louis Tomlinson is a new dad and judge on America’s Got Talent. And Mr Harry Styles is filming a movie called Dunkirk in France. Who knows what Niall’s doing?
He’s only 22 and it’s impressive that Payne is signed to Capitol Records. He seems very humbled by the opportunity, saying, “Capitol Records has an amazing history stretching right back before even Frank Sinatra and I’m really looking forward to becoming part of their story” (Billboard, 2016).
Liam was sure to tell his fans that he wouldn’t turn his back on One Direction and said this sweet tweet:
One direction will always be my home and family but I'm very excited to see what this chapter brings.
