Brace yourselves people, a thrilling series is coming to our favourite streaming service. The BBC’s Bodyguard is coming to Netflix Australia on October 24. The series found immense popularity in the UK and was deemed the most watched BBC drama since 2008.
If you came here thinking it’s the movie starring Whitney Houston and Bruce Willis, you’re in for a huge surprise. It’s a good one though.
The story itself revolves around the fictional character Police Sergeant David Budd (played by Richard Madden), who is a heroic British Army war-veteran suffering from PTSD. The sergeant is now working as a specialist protection officer for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of London’s Metropolitan Police Service.
After a heroic deed, that’s sure to be action packed, he’s promoted to the role of bodyguard. Budd is assigned to protect the ambitious Home Secretary Julia Montague (played by Keeley Hawes), whose political stance is against everything he believes in.
The series had first premiered in August with a six episode packed season. The finale, which was aired only last week Sunday, had 11 million viewers glued to the screen. Those ratings made it the most watched BBC episode in the UK since Dr Who’s Christmas episode in 2008.
When Bodyguard finally arrives on Netflix it might be difficult to binge watch as each episode is about an hour long. But if you do, who am I to judge?
