After you finally heard the last of ‘Let It Go’ fading away, ‘Frozen’ is back on everyone’s radars again. #GiveElsaAGirlfriend has been trending on Twitter after a user decided that Elsa having a girlfriend in ‘Frozen 2’ would be the perfect answer to Disney’s problems with representing LGBT characters.
After Disney failed the GLAAD test for LGBT representation in films, Twitter user Alexis Isabel sent out this tweet:
Dear @Disney, #GiveElsaAGirlfriend

And the Twittersphere blew up from there. It’s worth noting that the ice princess’ empowering song ‘Let it Go’ has already become a gay anthem and the movie is considered progressive because of a gay character whose husband and children are shown in one shot. Disney hasn’t quashed any ideas. Here’s hoping that they cave to peer pressure and make it happen!
Spoiler alert: Frozen was a metaphor for a closeted person learning to love herself and your children adored it. #GiveElsaAGirlfriend

#GiveElsaAGirlfriend because it would be a huge step towards queer kids feeling loved and accepted from a young age

#GiveElsaAGirlfriend normalising a f/f relationship will help queer young kids accept & understand their sexuality, that rep is so important
