Who knew Dave Grohl could get any cooler? The rock legend has once again inspired listeners as he opens up about his female role models in rock music.
In a recent interview with PBS Newshour, frontman Dave Grohl was asked about women in music and the objectification many of them face on a regular basis.
“Well you know, some of my biggest heroes have been women in music,” Grohl noted after being asked whether women have been treated well by rock and roll.
“Chrissie Hynde from The Pretenders always, to me, was the most – the strongest, most ferocious of the melodic punk rockers, you know,” he continued. “And, I mean, I look at – I look at some of my favourite new bands now. A band like Starcrawler that’s got this incredibly powerful female lead singer.”
“I think that when I look at Violet and when I look at Harper playing music, I don’t know if they’re at the age where they’d feel like if they’ve – they don’t feel like one of the guys because they’re just playing, you know, and I hope to see a change.”
“In my house, I’ve got a full rock band and they’re all women, and it makes me really happy to see,” he concluded. “It’s really cool.”
Dave’s daughters like to rock out at home and even featured in a Foo Fighters music video, but sadly, don’t have any intentions to follow in their Dad’s footsteps.
“They like to skateboard and ride scooters and ride horses and watch YouTube videos of people making slime. I don’t think that they’re looking forward to a life on the screen.”
Foo Fighters have undoubtedly become one of the world’s most popular rock bands over the years, and with that comes a great deal of power.
From the team at Aussie Gossip, we love you Dave Grohl!
