Known as the hilarious Alex Dunphy on Modern Family, Ariel Winter recently did an interview with Seventeen magazine, where she not only was made the cover, but talked body positivity as well as her presence on social media.
“It’s definitely hard being self-conscious and having the world be able to tell you how they feel about you,” Winter explained. “I wake up and I have tweets to me about how I’m fat, ugly blah-blah.”
Not cool.
But all the hate in the world couldn’t distract Winter from doubting her own confidence along with the support she receives from fans and loved ones.
“When I was younger, it took a lot more of a toll on me than it does now,” she revealed.”My sister helped me understand that people will say those things regardless of how you look. I tell myself every day, ‘I look fabulous.'”
If anything, her experience on social media has only fired her up and made her more determined than ever to ensure that her and her followers never tolerate any form of body shaming.
“I feel like as many of us women who can band together and discuss things in a positive way will be so beneficial.”
