The 5 Worst Ways to Get Dumped

Break Ups

Let’s face it, breakups are never easy, but there’s a right way to do them and a wrong way. These are the wrong ways

Voicemail
I wish I was kidding, but a guy actually dumped me over voicemail once. I was asleep and missed his call, so when I woke up to a voicemail that said “Hey we need to talk, I’m breaking up with you.” You can imagine how it felt (terrible, absolutely terrible).

MSN
This is one that I’m guilty of. The good old days of the ancient messaging system where you could send people an unavoidable emoji clip where they literally couldn’t escape. After a lot of avoidance, I finally got the guts up to dump this guy I’d been dating for a month (an eternity to me at the time). Given, I was 12, but still.

Pillowtalk
A friend once told me a story of how she and her long term boyfriend at the time had just finished having sex, and he rolled over, looked at her and said “I don’t think we work anymore”. Like that’s the right time to say that.

Through a friend
Although this is pretty reminiscent of old high school days, it’s definitely a thing that happens. When you ask your friend to dump your significant other because you’re too scared. Don’t do that.

The day they get back from a two month overseas trip
Imagine this: you’ve been away from your significant other for two months, you missed them deeply, you’re so excited to see them, you even cut your trip short partially because you missed them so much and weren’t having fun without them. You go to see them, and they have this really sullen look. You know what’s coming, you ask, and they confirm – they’re breaking up with you. DON’T. DO. THAT.

There are only so many things you can do to make a breakup easier on the other person, but these are a few things you most definitely need to avoid at all costs.
