During a recent interview with Buzzfeed, actress Vanessa Marano revealed that she knew her role on Gilmore Girls would not bode well with fans. For those who didn’t know, Marano played April Nardini, daughter of the adorable Luke Danes, which evidently, become the reason for Luke and Lorelai’s devastating breakup.
“I was like, ‘Oh my god, they’re giving Luke a daughter. Oh my GOD, she’s gonna ruin their relationship. Oh my god, I hate her already.’ I have to play her,” Marano told Buzzfeed.
We hear you, Vanessa.
But despite all the anticipated negativity and backlash, Marano knew that this would be the chance of a lifetime.
“Everyone loves Luke and Lorelai, and that’s the storyline that broke them up. I’d say to myself, ‘I don’t care that the world is going to hate me for a little bit, I get to be on Gilmore Girls.”
Yeah, I guess we can give you that one, Vanessa. But you still broke ’em up.
