Mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer, has officially stated in an interview earlier this week that an official plan has been made to permanently purchase the Pulse nightclub before permanently turning it into an LGBT and Latinx memorial.
The memorial itself is said to be built in respect to the 50 victims who tragically lost their lives to the Orlando shooting that occurred in June, making it the worst mass murder in modern American history.
“The Pulse nightclub is the site of the most tragic event that has ever occurred in the history of the City of Orlando. It has great significance, not just for the LGBTQ community and the Hispanic community, but for all of us who live in and love Orlando,” Dyer stated when discussing the $2.25 million plan.
“I believe that it is important that our community is a part of determining the future of the Pulse site. To start this process, the City of Orlando has entered into a contract to purchase the land on South Orange Avenue.”
Preach and prosper, Orlando.
