Adding to what is already a dismal year for Sydney’s once iconic nightlife, seventeen venues in the city and across the country will be sold off as the parent company, The Keystone Group, announced receivership.

The move will affect your favourite bars like Bungalow 8 and Cargo Bar, as well as beloved restaurants like Kingsleys and Chophouse. You won’t be able to have after work drinks on the cool rooftop at The Rook for much longer, and you’d better savour that booking at The Winery.

The Group stated that the announcement was due to an inability to agree on financial matters, however the declining state of Sydney’s nightlife would surely have had an impact on the decision.

The full list of venues to be sold include:

  • Bungalow 8 (Sydney)
  • Cargo Bar (Sydney)
  • Gazebo (Sydney)
  • Manly Wine (Sydney)
  • Sugarmill Hotel (Sydney)
  • The Rook (Sydney)

The venues will continue on as normal for the moment while they are assessed for sale, but the Keystone Group have stated that they anticipate a lot of interest. This follows the many closures of iconic bars such as Bar Century and Hugo’s since the implementation of Sydney’s controversial lockout laws.

So you’ve only got a limited time to have a seedy fun night out at Cargo bar or to seriously indulge at Kingsleys Woolloomooloo wharf restaurant. Treat yo self!
