Lena finally clarified the controversy surrounding New York Giants superstar, Odell Beckham Jr. at the 2016 Met Gala.
On her own online talk-show, Lenny Letter, she interviews Amy Schumer about their recent meeting at the event. Lena begins to goss about the people she was sitting next to, being none other than American football superstar, Odell.
“It was so amazing because it was like he looked at me and he determined I was not the shape of a woman by his standards. He was like, ‘That’s a marshmallow. That’s a child. That’s a dog.’ It wasn’t mean — he just seemed confused.”
Lena also mentioned she started to grind on Michael Jordan, during the after-party. Unfortunately there was no luck there, as she said she had left several minutes later.
These comments sparked controversy all over twitter when Odell’s fans started to roast Lena about her ‘feminism’ beliefs and overall her personality.
lena dunham is literally the worst why did society let her get big enough to even be able to sit next to odell https://t.co/Xr7NSp2rsR

I hate Lena Dunham as much as I hate straight men. This is exactly how straight men speak. https://t.co/diCoPQqtLi

Some also accused Lena of being racist and stereotypical to coloured athletes. Maybe she should have just started a conversation herself… instead of waiting around for someone else to?
Hours after the interview was released and there were already hundreds of tweets surrounding this controversy, Lena took it upon herself to clarify what the hell she actually meant.
.@OBJ_3 is talented, stylish, seems super awesome and wasn't into chatting with me at a fancy party.

My story about him was clearly (to me) about my own insecurities as an average-bodied woman at a table of supermodels & athletes.

It's not an assumption about who he is or an expectation of sexual attention. It's my sense of humor, which has kept me alive for 30 years.

There we have it folks, the great controversy of how Lena Dunham should have just put her foot in her mouth and not said something that made a public outcry.
