Anton Yelchin, most well known for his roles in the Star Trek reprise movies, has reportedly passed away after a tragic car accident at his home in LA. When he didn’t show up for a rehearsal, his friends became concerned and went to his home where they found him pinned to his mail box by his car, with it reportedly still running.

Yelchin played Russian starfleet officer Pavel Chekov in the 2009 Star Trek reprise, again in Star Trek: Into Darkness and completed filming on the latest in the saga, Star Trek Beyond. He’s also had major roles in a variety of films, such as Fright Night (2011), Charlie Bartlett (2007) and Like Crazy (2011), where he starred alongside Hunger Games and X-Men star Jennifer Lawrence.

Co-stars from many of his films, as well as other stars he’s come across, have taken to Twitter and Instagram to show their support for his friends and family in this tragic time.

Just in case you weren’t sure of the beautiful soul that he was, here’s a photo of him protecting this family of ducks from the rain. Because he does.
