In an Instagram post on Saturday Tom Holland ‘accidentally’ revealed the title of the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming when he held up an Ipad containing the film’s script that clearly displayed the title, “Spider-Man: Far From Home.”
Captioning the post was the cheeky misdirect, “Sorry for no announcements, but I love you guys.”
Amongst the massive cast of Marvel characters, Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo have a track record of unintentionally dropping major spoilers.
The Spider-Man sequel is itself an obvious spoiler. *Spoiler Warning* Despite Peter Parker’s death in Avengers: Infinity War, it’s clear that he’ll be brought back to life (most likely by reversing time using Doctor Strange’s Time Stone).
Returning cast members for the Spider-Man sequel include Michael Keaton as the Vulture, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned and in negotiations to play the character of Mysterio is Jake Gyllenhaal.
A notable absentee from the casting list is Robert Downey Jr.
Tony Stark’s fate may be in question. As Peter’s mentor and the first superhero to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Stark has been an integral component to the creation and success of the franchise. This past week Downey Jr. took to twitter to thank Marvel Studios and to celebrate its 10th anniversary since it was created in 2008 by Kevin Feige.
