If you’re one of the many fans loitering around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle info leading up to their royal wedding, then you’re in luck. The royal family just made headlines in one of the best ways (just to help us get past the wedding suspense). The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a new Prince yesterday and we just got the first glimpse of the Cambridge Cutie!
Kensington Palace took to twitter last night to confirm the breaking news, just shortly after it was leaked that Kate Middleton had gone into labour.
“Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son,” read the tweet. It went on to confirm that both Kate Middleton and their 8lbs 7oz baby boy are doing well.
The Palace continued, “The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
As per tradition, the newest royal arrival was born at The Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital, London. Just like the births of Prince George and Princess Charlotte, we saw the Duke and Duchess outside the Lindo Wing introducing the world to their newest addition on the same steps of the Paddington hospital.
Kate Middleton opted for a brightly hued Jenny Packham red dress with a white collar, which is believed to be a tribute to Prince William’s late mother Princess Diana, who wore a red dress with a white collar when she first introduced her first son to the world in the exact same spot.
Although it hasn’t been confirmed, there have been wide speculations that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding was planned in coordination with this birth in mind. Kate Middleton and the newest member of the royal family are set to attend the May 19 Windsor Wedding (and we are so excited to watch!)
