If you were a teenage girl any time between the 70’s until now, there’s no doubt you’ve caved in to the impulse purchase of a Cleo Magazine only in order to get the latest gossip, bedroom tips and of course the freebies. It’s a sad day for quiz lovers and fashion fanatics who will no longer be able to get their monthly dose of trends and scandals from Cleo with the magazine announcing it will shut down in Australia after 44 years.
The publisher Bauer Media Group have confirmed that March will be their final issue which will go on sale February 22. Cleo staff have been told of the closure and encouraged to reapply for positions with Dolly magazine or within Bauer.
Interim Chief Executive Andrew Schoo said “I would like to thank (editor) Lucy Cousins and all of the CLEO editorial team for their ongoing dedication to the magazine over the years.”
Looks like we’ll be on the hunt for another platform to tell us 40 things we don’t know we want or 21 secrets to look like Miranda Kerr. Anyway, thank you Cleo for being a great companion through the break ups, make-ups and all the rollercoasters a young woman rides in life.
