The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards are well underway at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and while the celebs roll out on the white carpet we take a look back at our favourite unforgettable moments.

5. Miley Cyrus twerking all over our screens with Robin Thicke (2013)

Whether or not you watched the 2013 VMA’s, you sure as hell would’ve watched the interesting (to say the least), interaction between Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke. From the moment Miley stepped on stage with her flesh coloured, skin tight latex bikini, we knew this performance was not going to be one that Disney approved of.

4. Britney being Britney

We couldn’t just pick one Britney moment to include on this list, from her legendary performance to Slave 4 U in 2002 that had a special guest appearance by an albino python to her scandalous make out session with Madonna in 2004, Britney never fails to give us more. Her comeback appearance at this years VMA’s will surely be something you don’t want to miss out.

3. Beyonce Baby Reveal (2011)

Imma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best baby reveals of ALL time. Following her show stopping performance of “Love On Top” at the 2011 VMA’s, the whole audience was unexpectedly surprised with the news that she was pregnant with hubby Jay Z. We, just like Kanye, lost our shit over the happy news.

2. Madonna setting the bar (1984)

Madonna’s, “Like a Virgin”, performance at the inaugural VMA’s iconically set the standards and tone of what constitutes as a VMA worthy performance. If the song wasn’t scandalous enough then, her seductive dance moves wrapped in a flamboyant wedding dress definitely set her bad girl brand to the world.

1.  Kanye West vs. Taylor Swift (2009)

Arguably the most unforgettable moment of the VMA’s of ALL TIME, Kanye’s infamous acceptance speech steal from now arch nemesis Taylor Swift had the world talking then and even now.

Make sure to tune into the 2016 VMA’s to see what other craziness will occur.
