It’s been a big year for deserts, big because well, deserts have been Frankensteined into huge, crazy and ridiculous proportions and structures.
But this desert, really floors them all. Welcome the Fried Maltella — Nutella fried ice-cream, drizzled in hot salted caramel sauce and crushed Maltesers.
The Maltella is the size of a large grapefruit, and if you’re feeling generous, takes about six people to eat.
Creator of the Maltella, Roy El Hachem (co-founder of cafe chain Piccolo Me), reckon it’s “the largest Nutella fried ice-cream in the world.”
It’s actually a plus-sized version of a Nutella ice fried ice-cream he created about a year ago, which is available in most Piccolo Me stores (get the list here) and is the more manageable – but less attention-grabbing – size of an apple:
The catch? It’s not exactly easy to sell in stores, so Roy is still working on how to recreate it for sale. They are not available for sale right now.
But, they should be on sale at the Macquarie Uni store in about a week, the smaller version that is.
