Remember that sad AF movie, The Fault in Our Stars that showed Gus Waters (Ansel Elgort) and Hazel Grace Lancaster (Shailene Woodley) both young and in love, then they dropped that bombshell about Gus dying of cancer.
Well it actually happened IRL to Dalton Prager and wife Katie Prager whose love story was compared to the movie. Katie posted an obituary on their shared Facebook page saying “My angel, my best friend, the love of my life, my husband went to be with the Lord our God today. Dalton fought a long hard battle with cystic fibrosis. He was a courageous fighter and ‘give up’ wasn’t in his vocabulary.”
Dalton passed away from Cystic Fibrosis at the St Louis hospital, hundreds of miles away from his wife, who also has Cystic Fibrosis and is in hospice care in Kentucky. The couple spoke over Facetime before he died.
CNN labelled them as a couple similar to The Fault in Our Stars couple as they met the same way. Katie and Dalton met on Facebook in 2009, then they started to travel to each other, as they lived in different states.
The couple hitched after 2 years of dating and spent their days together as man and wife until he died six years later in late September 2016.
