Last week we all gasped at the graphic footage of a 4-year-old boy who fell into the gorilla enclosure at Cincinnati Zoo. Now another video has emerged of a heartstopping incident at a Japanese zoo.
A two-year-old boy was standing in front of the glass window looking into the lion enclosure. As soon as he turns his back, the 181 kg lion runs and launches itself at the toddler. Who knows what would have happened if that glass wasn’t there?
The legend of a boy doesn’t really seem too phased by the king of the jungle slamming into the glass barrier. The zookeepers explained that the lion just wanted to play. However, lion expert and chief executive of Born Free USA Adam Roberts told The Dodo, “Lions are natural wild predators and the child in this video, especially when turning his back to the massive feline, becomes prey in the animal’s eyes.”
