Kanye Visits Childhood Home In Chicago

Kanye and his late mother, Donda West.

Kanye West is currently visiting his hometown of Chicago with wife, Kim Kardashian West.

On Friday, Kanye shared a photo of his childhood home in the city of Illinois. The former home of the rapper appears to be deserted.

This comes months after a row with his charity Donda’s House, who later cut ties with him and changed the name to Arts of Culture Inc.

The property which is located in the city’s south side was home to him and his mother, Donda West, who died in 2007 after complications from cosmetic surgery.

The home was supposed to be the headquarters of the charity which he co-founded with his friend, Rhymefest in 2011. Donda’s House was created to help Chicago’s troubled youth. It has been heard that it was supposed to contain a recording studio and a museum.

Rhymefest and Kanye had a falling out after accusations that Kanye had provided little assistance and ‘abandoned’ his hometown of Chicago. Right before the public falling out, the organisation attempted to separate itself from Kanye, releasing a statement condemning him for supporting Donald Trump.

Kanye did not respond to the accusations, however his wife, Kim Kardashian-West, came to his defence via Twitter, accusing Rhymefest of failing to run the charity properly.

Following Kim’s tweets, the foundation revealed it would no longer use the name Donda’s House.

During their Chicago trip, the West’s visited The Avalon Regal Theatre along with friend Chance the Rapper who is also a Chicago native. Kanye performed at the theatre as a 17 year old, however it has not been open for the last decade.

Kanye said that he wants to help restore the theatre and have a Chicago Comedy Jam there.

He excited fans by sharing a video of himself going to the studio while in his hometown. Do we smell a new album on the cards?
