Just when we thought the Trump family couldn’t get anymore insane, we found out about Ivanka Trump’s makeup artist. Her name is Alexa Rodulfo and in her 20s she immigrated to New York from Juarez, Mexico.
This makes her a Mexican immigrant.
This also makes her the number one target for Donald Trump’s anti-immigration policies.
But she’s also Trump’s daughter’s makeup artist.
As in, President Trump. She is the makeup artist for President Trump’s daughter.
Who is married to Trump’s first advisor, Jared Kushner.
This is the same Trump that is attempting to build a wall to keep Mexican immigrants out of the USA (keyword: attempting. Alternatives include: failing).
If you’re following along, good job. Because we’re still really confused.
Rodulfo has been doing the socialite’s makeup for 13 years, and has made her face for some major events like her wedding, and her father’s inauguration. Not only has she worked for Trump, she has also done the makeup for other big names like Wendi Murdoch (ex-wife of media giant Rupert Murdoch. We’re starting to see a little trend here).
In case you’ve been living under a rock, or are still in a state of denial that Donald Trump is actually the president of the US (honestly, same), here’s the go with his anti-immigration policies:
Trump hates Mexicans because they’re all drug-dealing, loud-music playing, non-english speaking, disease-ridden foreigners who charge extra for their guacamole.
Well, not quite. But that’s pretty much it. Trump has gone as far as referring to all immigrants as “animals”, and has insisted that they be prevented from crossing the border to the US.
“They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists,” Trump claimed during his presidential campaign.
“And some, I assume, are good people.”
Okay Donald.
Rodulfo is well aware of Trump’s policies regarding her home country, and her 22.4k Instagram followers make sure she remembers. Photos of her and the daughter of the president are flooded with comments like,
“How do you stand next to this woman who has defended her father?”
“She inspires you? To what? To leave the States? To build a wall between you and your country?”
Despite Trump’s insistence to obliterate all Mexicans prevent Mexicans from immigrating into the country, Rodulfo maintains that the family has consistently treated her with respect.
“Ivanka and Jared both love Mexico and have deep respect for my heritage,” Rodulfo told Refinery29. “I have never felt anything from her or her family besides warmth and respect… she has been a wonderful and supportive friend.”
We wonder what the President thinks about this one? Ivanka Trump is yet to comment on her father’s policies regarding immigration, but we can assume that as long as she needs a makeup artist, this Mexican will be sticking around for a while to come.
So long as she keeps her over-priced guac to herself, that is.
