During the Christmas period, shoppers could purchase Dick Smith gift vouchers from Coles and Woolworths with an extra 10 per cent value added. Now, those gift cards are worthless since Dick Smith has gone into receivership.
A spokesman from Coles said that the vouchers had been withdrawn from sale in the supermarket when Dick Smith was placed into voluntary receivership. Among the angry customers was an elderly man who bought a $1200 gift card for his grandson.
Now staff has spoken out on the abusive backlash of the electrical goods company’s downfall. They claim they have been spat on and punched by angry customers who won’t be receiving a refund any time soon. One store manager said, “In the past two days I have been abused and threatened to be shot.”
It is a very unfortunate situation for both customers and staff and it is apparent that if Dick Smith can’t find a buyer they’ll be closing up shops.
