Horror writer Stephen King has a massive canon of novels and adapted movies and it looks like we’ll be adding a new addition to the list — ‘From A Buick 8.’
‘From A Buick 8’ is one of King’s more obscure novels. The story takes place in Statler, Pennsylvania with members of ‘Troop D,’ a group of state police, safeguarding a secret. When a drunk driver kills one of the group’s comrades, Curtis Wilcox, his son Ned visits the remaining members and discovers what they’ve been hiding — a vintage 1953 Buick Roadmaster AKA The Buick 8. Mystery surrounds the car and its disappearing driver who Ned saw the day his father died. He believes that the cars appearance and his father’s death must be linked.
According to Variety Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment will be producing the film with William Brent Bell writing and directing. Bell’s career has been steeped in the horror genre, his most recent films include The Boy (2016), Wer (2013) and The Devil Inside (2012). Executive producers for the film are Addison Mehr and Priya Amritraj.
A release date has not yet been announced.
Fans of Stephen King will also want to check out ‘Castle Rock,’ a new horror series inspired by the characters and settings of King’s works. The first episode of this new show premieres tomorrow (July 25) on Hulu.
