It’s going to be a night to remember at the BET Awards this year!
First and foremost, there’s going to be a moving tribute to the legendary Prince, who received a lifetime award from the BET in 2010. Since Prince’s death there have been lots of thoughtful and beautiful tributes, by celebs from Bruce Springsteen to Madonna.
The BET tribute looks just as starstudded. Prince’s ex finance, Sheila E. and protégé Janelle Monae will feature in the tribute, along with The Roots and D’Angelo, who both note that Prince inspired them. The “and more” tells us that we’re not done yet so we’ll just wait on tenderhooks.

In other BET news, Rihanna, Drake and Beyonce have dominated the nominee categories in music. Meanwhile, everyone’s favourite cheeky grin Michael B. Jordan nabbed a nomination for Best Actor, alongside Idris Elba, who has been dogged with James Bond rumours lately.
Black-ish co-stars Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson are co-hosting so it’s sure to be a fun night. It’s all happening at the BET!
