Last week Ed Sheeran graced us all with not one, but two magical new songs! After a long break, Ed returned to serenade our ears with his magical voice.
If that’s not exciting enough, Spotify released the information that Sheeran broke their release day streaming records. Twice.
“Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill” have been played a combined number of 13 freaking million times within the first 24 hours! Both songs managed to smash the previous record held by One Direction’s song “Drag Me Down”.
Then, 48 hours after the songs were released, it turned out they broke more records by being streamed 25.8 million times.
The news isn’t too shabby after a one year hiatus by the ginger singer. Maybe, just maybe this will stop him taking such a long break again?
We missed you, Ed!
He’s pretty stoked with the reaction to his new music, taking to Twitter to thank fans.
truly overwhelmed with the reaction to these new songs, I’ve never had anything like this, thank you for all your wonderful messages x
