The Yin and Yang of Introversion

We are often told, that in order to succeed, an individual must be charismatic, impressionable, openly-ambitious and charming. Yet for some, that is simply not an option. Introverts are repeatedly (incorrectly) misconstrued as shy, cautious and socially inapt, with these presumed character traits often deemed undesirable within the climate of the 21st Century.

In reality, many introverts are highly capable individuals who are able to socialise and communicate with ease, they simply prefer not to. This short RSA Animation by Molly Crabapple illustrates the importance of a balance between introverts and extroverts as presented by Susan Cain.

Perhaps it is worth reconsidering how we understand and appreciate individualities.

“The world is full of noise and those that are the loudest are the ones we tend to follow but what about the quiet ones?”
