Jason Wayne Greatbatch, 35, travelled more than 2000km to Queensland where he stabbed a former employee and her fiancé. The South Australian bakery owner has been arrested after landing at Adelaide Airport on Monday.
The 21-year-old mother, Teagan Moore is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being stabbed while believed to have been holding her 10-month-old son. Her fiancé, Jake Burgess, 23, sustained injuries and the baby was treated for minor injuries from being dropped on the ground.
Greatbatch appeared at the Adelaide Magistrates Court yesterday, with a list of charges including attempted murder, enter premise with intent, acts intended to main, and common assault. Queensland detectives were not expected in South Australia until today to yesterday’s extradition hearing could not proceed.
Greatbatch has refused to be represented by a lawyer and has said, “I do not wish to be extradited.” He has been remanded in custody before a formal extradition hearing.
