Mothers Against Drugs volunteers organised the ‘Be An Elf’ Wish Appeal as they wait for the letters and gifts request from children. The humble requests range from a few sticks of chalk to school bags and books.
After ticking she was ‘very good’ this year, 12 year old Jane* had a very selfless and heartbreaking wish on her list. If the elves are not too busy, she would also like ‘Dad not to hurt Mummy.’ For someone so young, this is the last thing they should need to be putting on their list.
Founder June Hintz recalls 10-year-old William wanting potato bake and pork chops for Christmas last year. A woman arrived in her can and began unloading the dinner on Christmas day. After discovering that William was living in a car she now became his adopted Nana.
It’s so good to see the ‘Be An Elf’ Wish Appeal bring happiness and Christmas cheer to children that need it the most.
