We all love that high from a solid workout session when endorphins pump through our body. Now there will be a different kind of high available to gym users… the marijuana variety.

One gym in California will allow users to get high on marijuana! Power Plant Fitness will be a cannabis friendly gym, the first ever of it’s kind. Founder Jim McAlpine is an entrepreneur with over twenty years experience in the ski and snowboard industry. He decided to dabble in something a bit left of field and wanted to demystify the stigma that marijuana is a lazy drug; and that all users are unmotivated ‘stoners’.

The gym is targeted to gym goers who want to unwind from a heavy day at work or to give them the push to complete a circuit training workout. All gym goers will undergo a cannabis performance assessment.

McAlpine has even created the 420 games. Basically it’s the Olympics…but promoting the use of cannabis in a healthy and responsible style. Families compete in triathlons, obstacle courses, mountain bike races, golf tournaments and the signature 4.20 mile run. These occur in Washington DC, Oregon, Colorado and, of course, California.

Some people find consuming a pot brownie or a cookie is the right hit for them. Others find vaping more useful. Eventually an outdoor smoking deck will be available but users can’t smoke at the moment. The company is hoping to expand their marijuana products by launching edible gels in the flavours of apple fruit leather, blood orange and chia seed in the form of a gel.

One of marijuana’s main side effects is the dehydration, dizzy spells and raised levels of anxiety. This poses great health risks. Only time will tell how successful the gym will be so keep your eyes peeled for this interesting business venture.

Here you can watch an advocate for the gym below discuss the benefits of exercise and marijuana in combination together.
