Last week we shed tears about Conor McGregor’s retirement but we were able to wipe them away yesterday after he tweeted to his 1.67 million fans that he’ll be back.
Happy to announce that I am BACK on UFC 200!
Shout out to @danawhite and @lorenzofertitta on getting this one done for the fans. #Respect— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 25, 2016
However, we hate to burst your bubble but you might need to get your tissues ready again. There’s a chance the tweet might not be accurate at all. In case you missed it, there was so much speculation and confusion last week after UFC head Dana White said McGregor refused to fly out to Las Vegas for a press conference. McGregor believes he’s done a year and a half of promo work nonstop.
After the tweet, White told TMZ Sports, “We haven’t talked to Conor or his manager since the press conference. I don’t know why he would tweet that.” So somebody’s lying here and we’re no sure who!
This is all getting too much to handle and we hope the UFC realises how much the fans want the fight to go ahead. If they’re worried that McGregor wasn’t helping promote the fight… maybe they should open a newspaper or scroll through their Facebook feed because news about McGregor or UFC 200 is now left, right and centre!
