Rumours have now been put to rest in terms of why Mariah Carey had been seeking $50 million from now ex-fiancé, James Packer. It has now been revealed that the singer has not requested the money as compensation for a highly public disagreement on a yacht in Greece, but as a response to the amount she would have been entitled to in the prenup had the couple got divorced.
Oh, Mariah…
According to TMZ, Packer was eager to marry Carey on March 1, however, the couple’s legal representation took their time with the thorough and complex 100-page agreement. One of the conditions of the agreement required Carey to return any jewellery given to her by Packer in the circumstance of a breakup. But it wasn’t all bad, she would’ve gotten to keep certain pieces if Packer had given her a signed note, claiming that they were gifts.
It doesn’t get more romantic than that.
