Will someone please hold us while we cry tears of joy?

Instead of the trilogy we were expecting, JK Rowling has just confirmed during a Facebook Live global event that there will be five films in the ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ franchise.

“We always knew that it was going to be more than one movie. We knew that from the start,” she said. “So we set a trilogy as a sort of placeholder because we knew there would be more than one movie. But we’ve now… I’ve now done the plotting properly, so we’re pretty sure it’s going to be five movies.”

As most of us know, the movies are set in the 1920s and focus on Newt Scamander’s adventures in the wizarding world. However, according to Rowling there’s a lot more to explore. She revealed the future films will even zone in on everybody’s fave bearded guy: Albus Dumbledore and his tremulous relationship with frenemy, Gellert Grindelwald.

We’ve always wanted to know more about the wise yet extremely secretive Professor Dumbledore, so we’re absolutely stoked we might finally get answers.

The next Fantastic Beasts movie comes to cinemas on 18 November. And we’re not gonna lie; we’ve already started preparing our costumes.

In the meantime, here’s some footage that was released during the Facebook global event.
