Demi Lovato has reached a stable condition after being admitted into hospital over a drug overdose.
Lovato penned in an Instagram post that she learned of her addiction “is not something that disappears or fades with time.”
“It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet,” she wrote on Sunday, her first public address since her hospitalisation.
She thanked the staff at Cedars-Sinai Hospital for being by her side through her recovery, “Without them I wouldn’t be here writing this letter to all of you.” Demi also thanked her fans for their support and said “I look forward to the day where I can say I came out on the other side.”
Since the news broke of her overdose, there has been an outpouring of love from her fans, colleagues and Hollywood stars. On this post alone, celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton, Hailey Baldwin and Sam Smith expressed their support and love for her.
Lovato has struggled with substance abuse for years, and the overdose comes following a relapse after six years of sobriety, which she revealed in June in her single Sober.
Her song Sober has re-entered the Billboard Top 100, and the song has spiked by 199%. The tune has been streamed 7.2 million times in the US since her overdose.
The singer has received treatment for her substance abuse, bipolar disorder and bulimia in the past. She documented her struggles in her 2017 Youtube original documentary, Simply Complicated.
The team at Aussie Gossip wish Demi a speedy recovery.
