Creative differences amongst Deadpool director Tim Miller and one of Hollywood’s biggest stars Ryan Reynolds has led for Miller to call it quits in directing the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 dark superhero comedy.
Deadline exclusively reports that given Reynolds is not only the star of the film but also one of the producers, it is not a surprise that Miller had to be the one to pull out from the project.
Deadpool grossed $783 million worldwide on a $58 million budget and broke many box office records, including highest grossing R-rated film. The news of this change in creative direction and loss of the director is therefore surprising given the initial critical success of the original movie.
For those who appreciated the R-rated tone of Deadpool then you can still catch Miller’s work in his next Fox project, Influx, which is an adaption of the Daniel Suarex cyber thriller futuristic novel.
