The bible does not reveal Jesus’ physical appearance but the closest thing comes from Isaiah 53:2b “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire him.” Jesus may have been more ordinary-looking than we think. The traditional long-haired, fair-skinned image of Jesus derived from famous artworks like Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.

Richard Neave a medieval artist/scientist has revealed what Jesus more realistically may have looked like according to forensic anthropological. He puts into perspective that Jesus was the son of Joseph, a man who earned a living by using his hands building furniture. This ‘new’ version of Jesus is also makes more sense for the region in which Jesus lived.

He collected three Galilean Semite skulls found in the area around Jerusalem and using computerised tomography he constructed the best shape for Jesus’ face. He also relied on ancient drawings found at archaeological regions to estimate the appearance of his hair, eyes and skin tone. It was also decided using the Bible, that Jesus had short hair.
