8 Things to do in Sydney this long weekend

There is nothing us Aussie’s love more than a good quality long weekend or any weekend for that matter. But whether it’s to celebrate our beloved Queen’s birthday or Labour Day, we don’t really need a reason to not have to get out of bed on a Monday morning. Here’s an ultimate guide of what to do in Sydney this long weekend besides the obvious sleep in, over consumption of alcohol and obligatory family time.

1. We are all still a bit hung up over the news that Stereo and Future have left the Australian music scene, but thankfully we’ve got Listen Out to fill the music fest gap and start of the season. Join the thousands of people who are going to flood Centennial Park this Saturday in order to catch headliners; Travis Scott, A$AP Ferg and RUFUS. Tickets are becoming scarce so make sure grab them from here.

2. Kick on from Listen Out (if you’re brave enough) or if you were one to miss out tickets than don’t give up, sleep during the day and head to one of Sydney’s best clubs on Saturday Night for one of Listen Out’s official after parties. Our picks: Chinese Laundry or Marquee which will be hosted by A$AP Ferg for those of you who still want to see him live.

3. Kick start the summer season the right way and attend, Ivy’s highly anticipated Courtyard Party Launch. With a killer line up including 2 International acts, the party is sure to go off on all three levels of Ivy. Get more info here.

4. Why not up your Instagram game this weekend and go to one of Sydney’s best cafes to get the ultimate brunch (photo). For those instafamous hotcakes that you’ve been seeing everywhere head over to Left of Field in Rhodes but if your on a health kick for the upcoming Summer then go to Bondi Wholefoods to get your acai bowl fix. Here’s a full list of cafes if you’re stuck for choices.

5. The timing of this long weekend is pretty much a gift from god for all you sport lovers (aka all of Australia) with the NRL Grand Final and AFL Grand Final sure to overtake every pub screen in the city. Footy Fever is definitely going to be all the talk this weekend.

6. Not like we need another reason to enjoy one of the best beaches Sydney has to offer, but we are extremely excited to attend Manly’s 39th annual Jazz Festival. There’s nothing better than enjoying great music with an even better view. And make sure to grab a cocktail at Manly Wharf Hotel once you’re done for the day.

7. Embrace Walktober this long weekend and take to one of Sydney’s infamous coastal walks whether you go Bondi to Bronte or go on the Sydney Harbour Bridge to South Head trail, you are sure to get breathtaking views all while getting active and ready for Summer!

8. If you’re one those unlucky folks who doesn’t get the day off on the Monday (we thank you for your sacrifice btw) and hoping to keep the long weekend on the down low then maybe go to your local cinemas and watch one of these flicks. For a hit of nostalgia then catch The Blair Witch Project (we wish you good luck) or opt for something a bit more kid friendly and watch the hilarious, Secret Life of Pets.
