If Labor is elected next year, Australians will be given five days of leave for domestic violence victims. Federal Opposition spokesperson Brendan O’Connor told the ABC “It will provide material support for women who might find themselves in the awful predicament.”

At a White Ribbon event, Malcolm Turnball stated “If little boys see their fathers disrespecting their mothers, they will grow up to disrespect their partners. If they see their mothers respected they will respect their sisters.

Over 60 women have died due to domestic violence and police respond to more than 650 incidents every day.

If you know someone impacted by sexual assault or family violence, call 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732).
