A speech delivered by Stan Grant during the IQ2 Racism Debate last October has gone viral after the Ethics Centre posted it to their website ahead of Australia Day.
The video is said to have been viewed over 1 million times since it was published a week ago. YouTube views alone have reached almost 335 000 as of this morning.
The speech confronted viewers with its honesty, eloquence and harsh realities. Grant categorically breaks down the inherent issues within the Australian psyche and of our collective ignorance.
“The Australian dream is rooted in racism,” he said. “It is the very foundation of the dream. It is there at the birth of the nation. It is there in terra nullius.”
The response to the speech has been so significant that some are suggesting that this was Grant’s Martin Luther King moment. Others are proposing that Grant (a journalist, correspondent & broadcaster) should consider entering into Australian Politics, suggesting that he could be a powerful advocate within the parliament.
