Today, the world pays tribute to musical legend, David Bowie, who yesterday passed away, only 18 months after being diagnosed with cancer.
Bowie is widely acclaimed as one of music’s most influential artists, with his colourful and eccentric career spanning over the past five decades.
Born in London in 1947, the trailblazing musician released his 25th and final studio album Blackstar upon his 69th Birthday, just three days before his untimely death.
This ‘parting gift’ to fans is a fitting and deliberate move from Bowie and is one that will undoubtedly be both analysed and appreciated for years to come.
Since the upsetting news broke, sales of the album Blackstar have soared, along with that of his greatest hits records. In addition, Spotify the music streaming monolith, has reported that streams of Bowie’s music witnessed an increase of 2,700% on Monday.
This musical genius shaped an era and will continue to do so even after his passing.
