Adelaide is slowing moving from the city of churches to the city of small bars; something the locals are embracing, but one venue that doesn’t seem to be winning over punters is Nathan Buttigeig’s nightclub Atlantis.
Buttigeig’s team is building a luxurious nightclub that is anything but cool, it’s rather a ridiculous feat of luxury.
The Atlantis will have:
- A 2.5m champagne fountain
- Acrobats
- Gold plated toilets
- An onyx wall
- The “world’s largest” Agate bar worth more than $450,000
- A chauffeur service for VIPs
- Champagne bottles priced from $15 to $100,000.
And probably the most shocking feature of all, a 25,000L aquarium with hammerhead sharks in it.
Buttigeig said to the Advertiser that it will be a “wow factor for Adelaide.” No doubt the city has been wow-ed but probably not in the way Buttigeig hoped for. A petition has been created to stop the installation of the aquarium, and has garnered 37,000 at time of publication.
Buttigeig is also seeking approval for a swimming pool and helipad. No biggie’.
