Over the Australia Day weekend at least 150 people got food poisoning after eating chicken or pork rolls from Sylvania’s Box Village Bakery over the weekend. Initial tests showed that patients had suffered salmonella poisoning.

The owner of the Sydney bakery, Hien “Johnny” Dau has now apologised to sick customers by leaving a note on the front window.

One mother showed her anger by adding to the sign “You grubs, my son is still in hospital because of you.” The NSW Food Authority has kept the store closed further investigation but Mr. Dau says once it reopens he would offer free food for on to two days as an act of goodwill.

One of the victims had to undergo an emergency C-section at Wollongong Hospital after falling sick at 35 weeks pregnant.
