Norway’s Guard promoted a flaming penguin

We now know why Tony Abbott reintroduced Knights and Dames in 2014 (before they were removed by PM Malcolm Turnbull) and if this is the reason old mate went for it then we are sad to say we wish he wasn’t booted by his own party.

Norway has been knighting (probs daming too) for years and their most public Knight is Sir Nils Olav III. Would you believe it, but Sir Olav is actually a flaming penguin at Edinburgh Zoo. And to make us feel even more inadequate the antarctic bird just got promoted to the fourth highest position in the Norwegian Army, Brigadier.

He received his new title in an official ceremony yesterday at the Zoo, where he waddled past 50 of His Majesty the King of Norway’s Guard and into our hearts.

As the official mascot of the Royal Guard, the third penguin to be given the honour, a new title/rank is bestowed to him every few years for his efforts. Coinciding with when the Norwegian Army visits Scotland, but still WHERE IS OUR PENGUIN?!
